Thrifty Threads

I have always found thrift stores as such a fun concept. I love how you can take something that somebody probably thought "Ew, I don't want this anymore, it's SO ugly (and/or) out of date!" and turn it into "I absolutely LOVE that look! Where did you get it!?"
(pinterest)
Unfortunately, so sue me if I'm wrong about what I just said, I have never been to a thrift shop...(unless you count Goodwill, which I definitely don't.)  But I have always wanted to go! The other day my friend Allison who helps me with the blog ventured to a thrift store in Philadelphia called Retrospect that looks like it has some awesome finds! While she was shopping around and searching for some stylish threads she came across a fellow shopper who was rockin' a fro and a fierce ensemble!...
The low back of this dress and the simple yet stylish heels pulls together an outfit that is comfortable enough for a shopping day, but hot enough for a night out...while the afro definitely helps to add some SPUNK on top of that! And everybody knows that a fashionista can't leave a cute store empty handed. Allison left Retrospect with a GORGEOUS pink and orange floral tunic that she paired with a skinny belt to complete the look!
So next time you are trying to think of a cute store to find some new clothes, get online and search for the nearest thrift shop! Just remember, one mans trash is another mans TREASURE!

Cheap, Chic, & Flawless

So today I was being my usual lazy self online when I came across this picture of one of the most BEAUTIFUL actresses out there...

FREIDA PINTO
She has flawless skin, amazing fashion-sense, and on top of all that her acting isn't too shabby either! I love how she is so natural and 100% genuine with her appearance and her personal style. When I saw this photograph I knew that I had to share her effortless look with all of you, and throw in some similar ideas that would add a POP of color to your wardrobe! Chartreuse looks amazing paired with a summer tan and luckily I've found some pieces in that color that are just as chic as Freida's, but a little bit more casual and a little less expensive!...
Try this option from Warehouse that is ideal for a fancy night on the town! With the halter neckline and a crisscross back, its elegant but still fun!
Price: 64.00
This little number is fierce, flirty and just what you need for a hot summer night! The ruffles add a carefree feel, while the deep V-neckline is sultry enough for a date with your special someone!
Price: 29.80
Every dress needs a some hot heels to rock with it! These wedges from Infinity Shoes are cute enough to wear with jeans, or to pair with the dresses above!
Price: 49.95
Just because her shoes are brown, doesn't mean yours have to be! Off-white is also a fashionable color for summer fashion! Pair these babies from Piperlime with one of those dresses and you won't be disappointed!
Price: 20.00

Do you have something in chartreuse that is fantastically fashionable? Well send a picture of yourself rockin' that style to PPT's email and it will show up right here on this very post! I hope you enjoyed these looks for less! I will be vacationing for the next few days but a post or two will DEFINITELY pop up so keep your eye out. And the exciting news continues, so stay tuned for that!

Who k(NEW)

WOW.

This year door after door keeps opening and I am BEYOND blessed and excited! Last night I logged onto my email at like 12:30, expecting to just check the billions and billions of emails I get from Piperlime, Urban Outfitters, and all my favorite stores before I headed to bed, when I decided to email the Lifestyle editor for my wonderful school newspaper The East Carolinian. After a rough night of sleep with my head spinning about emails, packing for school, and the constant occurrence of me waking up thinking there were bugs in my bed (there weren't any, thankfully. I don't know why I was thinking that), I turned on my light, rubbed my eyes and checked my email to see that I had been offered the opportunity to write a monthly fashion column for the school paper! I am ECSTATIC! This is going to be such a fun project! And not only will students who read the school newspaper see it, but at the bottom of each column it will have a link to PPT so that they can stay up to date with pictures of their peers and follow the latest trends! I couldn't be looking forward to this year more, but I have a feeling it's going to be filled with many more nights like this...
and not this...
which isn't a bad thing, I like being busy! And I'm sure ya'll will love to see more posts weekly on PPT!....In other news (ha ha, pun INTENDED) I decided to add a fun project that I am DYING to try that corresponds with the "news" theme of my blog today! Have any of ya'll seen the new crafty idea of putting newspaper on your fingernails as nail-polish? Well its all over Pinterest and I wanted to share the link with you so you could try it before me and let me know how it turns out! Heres what it looks like with the LINK ...
(all photos via pinterest)
I hope all of my ECU fashionista friends are as excited about this as I am! And I want to see how everyones nails turn out so make sure you go to contacts and email PPT with a picture of you and your fierce nails! Hope everyone had a great Sunday...

P.S- make sure you follow PPT on twitter @fashionPPT and i'll love you forever!

Makeup-less and Fancy Free

This week while I was at the beach with my family I went makeup-less all day, everyday, other than the one night we went out to eat. Let me just tell you, it felt great!
The salty ocean water cleared up my skin and made me feel clean, fresh, rejuvenated and just free as a bird. It felt REALLY nice. I'm one of those girls who doesn't even like to leave the house to pick up coffee if I don't have just a little bit of concealer on, but this weekend I just said what the heck and went along with it! Even celebrities go without "putting their face on", check out these makeup-less beauties...
So pretty much the only people that have seen me without ANY makeup on are my family, my closest friends, and my boyfriend so ya'll are in for a treat! Here I am without any makeup on...
(No makeup and big natural hair fresh out of the shower!...don't worry I have a spaghetti strap on)

TA-DAH!! Are you in shock? Did you fall out of your chair!? I know, I know. Me too. And you know what I've noticed with these pictures... apparently you look better with no makeup on if you don't smile with your teeth. DUH. Everybody knows that! What is your take on going make-up free? I think its fun and definitely refreshing, but I don't think I can pull it off for a long period of time! But unlike me, some people are just naturally blessed with perfectly flawless skin (like my best friend Melissa who goes to Elon, check out her blog here) and they don't even have to worry about makeup! I hope that this post inspires you to give your skin a break and to embrace what God gave you! Hope you had a wonderful weekend...

Street Style

So I know that the other day after I filled you in about my amazing experience with Fox News Rising I also told you that I had more exciting news coming soon....well lets just say that there is a possibility that I may get the chance to work with an AMAZING website called COLLEGE FASHIONISTA!
It's such an awesome site that gives students, like myself, the opportunity to take pictures of fashionable classmates around their school and connect through an online community! After contacting the website they told me that I had to write up a mock Street Style post to see if I get the position and thats where this blog post comes in! (cross your fingers) While I was searching for stylish shoppers, I decided to get my TWIN SISTER to take some pictures of me in my own version of street style! I love how popular tying a button down shirt has become this season. Not only is it extremely chic, but if your short then it helps a shirt that was once overwhelming look like it fits flawlessly.
So next time you wanna try something new but you don't wanna spend money, look in your closet and pull out an old button down! Tie the bottom, and (if your willing) then cut the sleeves off and your good to go! You have a new ensemble in a flash! More posts coming soon...
