That's The Way (Uh-huh Uh-huh) I Like It....

There has been a WHIRLWIND of activity around here lately. From the ECU vs USC game, to loads of homework and fabric labeling, to hours spent in the car driving back and forth between Greenville and Charlotte...it would be an understatement to say that I have been busy. But I wanted to share with you a couple of exciting things!
1
First I wanted to express to ya'll my excitement about CollegeFashionista! (click the cute little picture at the top of the page to get to the website) This Tuesday the first post for my CollegeFashionista internship was uploaded to the site and I am thrilled! During the first week of the internship you're assigned to write a short bio about yourself and post a picture to match. Since it was hurricane-ing outside the weekend that I was planning on taking my picture I had to use one that I already had, but I think it still turned out well! Here's a screenshot of my post...
I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with such a wonderful website! Each week I will be uploading a post featuring the gentlemen of East Carolina University called Let's Hear It For The Boys. I will talk about why their trend is so chic, how their accessories play along with the ensemble, and then give a hint on how you can accomplish their look! I can't wait for my first LHIFTB's post to be up next week! Make sure ya'll keep your eyes peeled for it....

Secondly I want to share with ya'll a little something random...a shoe obsession! I don't think I have ever posted anything about them on here but I have a pair of awesome Nike hightop kicks that I LOVE! They are ideal to wear on rainy days because they're pretty much waterproof and yet not as inconvenient and heavy as rain-boots. How ghetto fabulous do I look in these!? (please disregard how much of a loser I am being in these pictures, I was a tad bored)...
3
I also had the privilege to write some posts for my amazing friend Leslie's blog, A Blonde Ambition, while she is a busy bee getting ready for her wedding! What she wanted me to do was to pick out some chic ready-to-wear lines for the upcoming season and talk about the trends and what to expect. Today she posted the piece that I wrote about the ACNE collection and I am so ecstatic with how it turned out! She was so sweet to give me this opportunity and was extremely complementary during her post! Ya'll have to go check out her blog HERE , she is AWESOME!

Sometime later this week I'm going to share with ya'll some pictures that my wonderful friend, and co-photographer, Allison shot to show off her and her friends chic fashion for the 2011-2012 school year. I can't wait for all of you to see them! I hope that you enjoyed my post on this dreary afternoon! What are your favorite items to wear during a rainy day??

Post Hurricane Post

Wow. That was CRAZY. Never in my life did I imagine that hurricane Irene would cause this much damage to Greenville.
Hurricane Irene- via Pinterest

I felt like I was in the movie The Day After Tomorrow!! For those of you who aren't here to witness it, there are trees that fell into the streets, power lines that were struck down leaving students without electricity, and debris and leaves everywhere you look. Here are just a few photos that I shot right after the damage (sorry for the horrible quality, it was still pouring when I took most of these)....
Although the storm was definitely a downer, one thing that I enjoyed was spending the entire weekend and our days off with my boyfriend! I am going to brag for a second and just prove to you all how awesome he is...check out these shoes he bought me for my 20th birthday...
How cute are those!? I cannot WAIT to wear them this fall! I already paired them with my crocheted shorts and a tied button down, but I am just itching to wear them alongside some fall ensembles! Anywho, I hope that all of you stayed safe and dry during this terrible storm! The one good thing that came from Irene is the fact that the weather cooled down about 10 degrees! The high is 84 today and that means that a lot of students around East Carolina are decked out in some chic ensembles as they head back to class. Check out this fashionista that I shot a picture of in Starbucks...
Her ensemble is flawless. From the gladiator sandals, all the way to her haute headwrap, this girl was dressed to impress! The manner at which she paired a tailored blazer with a skirt and sandals is an ADORABLE way to transition from summer to fall weather! By the way, I decided to rock a fishtail braid with my big glasses today. I like to pretend that instead of the ECU Starbucks, I am sitting in a packed Starbucks in Manhattan while sipping on a latte and working diligently on a piece for Vogue. Oh to dream....
What do ya'll think...nerd chic, right!? I will be posting more pictures of my posh peers throughout the day if I shoot anymore, and if not today then definitely tomorrow!

First Week Fashion: Day 2- This One's For The Ladies

HEY hey HEY hey HEY LADIES! (beastie boys voice)
I'm going to make this post short and sweet. There was SO many girls rockin fierce fashion for Day 2 of First Week Fashion! From maxi-dresses, to pencils skirts, and all the way to boots and shorts that can transition into fall weather, the fashion that showed up around ECU's campus was hotter than the 95 degree weather! With this being the first week of class you can expect most students to be pulling out all the stops! Check out these girls who were sporting some serious trends for the start of the new year....
The combination of sheer tops and high waisted shorts is a style that is stomping its way across college campuses. Add some chic boots and a skinny belt like this fashionista, and you're sure to impress!
Want to be comfortable while still looking stylish? Well why don't you try a pencil skirt in a jersey material with a loose casual top, like these ladies! This outfit idea is cute enough for class, but casual enough to help you make it through those long days hittin' the books!
This posh peer of mine was looking hotter than ever in her belted floral maxi-dress. Since the weather is hot, maxi-dresses are ideal because they're breezy AND comfortable!

I also had my boyfriend take some shots of me in my Day 2 ensemble! I just bought this new backless top from PacSun and I am IN LOVE with it! Take a look...

Was your Universities fashion for Day 2 just as fierce as Day 1? What did YOU wear?

First Week Fashion: Day 1

Today was the first day of my junior year of college...WOW! I can't believe how fast time flies. I am beginning to focus on all my merchandising classes so I love how much more fashion oriented my days are becoming. I am with some girls in my classes that I know I will be with until the day we toss our caps at our college graduation! It's an exciting experience and I am enjoying every second of the ride.
I don't know about ya'll, but ever since I was probably in like 3rd grade I have spent HOURS deciding what I want to wear on the first day of school. From stiff jean skirts and gaudy shirts in elementary school, to Hollister tops and tight jeans during my middle school years, and all the way to the stylish ensembles of my late teens I have gone from one decision to the next about what outfit I would be wearing as I busted down the double doors of my school. This year I decided to go for something that mixed simplicity, punk-rock style, and comfort. My outfit consisted of a loose black graphic tank-top from Pac Sun, crocheted shorts from Urban Outfitters, black bandeau bra from Forever 21, gold sandals from target, black and gold bracelet from Forever 21, a coral and gold bracelet that my grandparents bought me from Italy, and a chartreuse sweater from Victoria Secret for my freezing classrooms. I loved how my outfit was relaxed enough to not bother me during my 5 straight hours of classes, but cute enough to make (at least I hope) a good first impression! After I left my last class I asked my wonderful boyfriend to snap some pictures of me in my outfit. Here are some shots of my first day fashion...
Tomorrow I am going to update again with a picture of my ensemble for First Week Fashion: Day 2 (and for all of you who didn't know, my 20th birthday outfit!!!) and hopefully with some photographs of my peers and their first week ensembles! I hope you enjoyed taking a tiny peak into my back to school wardrobe! What did YOU wear on your first day back, ladies and gents??
