Instagramed Fedora Feelings

Last night I was laying in bed with wet hair (which means I knew I'd be braiding it this morning cus it'd be a wild, tangled mess) when I decided to plan my outfit around my gray fedora because of it's amazing ability to mask my laziness. My older sister has recently become obsessed with mustard yellow juxtaposed against gray, and I think it's a great concept. I love how you wouldn't expect the colors to match, but they look so ideal when thrown together. I took some tips from Cameron's look (aka baggy sweater, gray, hair to the side, fedora hat, etc)...
slipped on my favorite striped spicy mustard Madewell sweater, stepped into some longer jean cutoffs, topped it with my fedora, and slowly but surely concocted my comfy yet casual look...
What do you think??
I liked it for a simple day spent studying and anticipating the weekend. Along with my "look of the day" I also took some screen shots of chic styles I viewed on Instagram that I so desperately crave...

Amazing, right?? What new trends are you anxious to try? Until the next post...

Pausing Fashion for Food

So lately (pretty much two times a week) I have been concocting my new FAVORITE pasta. And do you want to know a secret? I made up the recipe. That's right, you can just call me a culinary genius. This pasta, seriously people, is one of my favorite things I have ever eaten. It's delicious, extremely easy to make and it's just as yummy when you eat it as leftovers! That is why I am going to write down the recipe so you can give it a try yourself...

CHICKEN, SPINACH & SUN-DRIED TOMATO PASTA
INGREDIENTS
-olive oil
-salt and pepper
-jar of minced garlic
-fresh bag of spinach
-jar of diced sun-dried tomatoes
-chopped or shredded rotisserie chicken
-Classico Alfredo Sun-dried tomato sauce
-one box of spaghetti style gluten free pasta

DIRECTIONS
-- Bring water to a boil, once it's ready add the spaghetti style pasta and a pinch of salt. Once it's done cooking, drain it and wash it off with cold water.
--In a large pot, saute as much spinach as you like (some people are huge fans like me, some people don't really like it) with at least one teaspoon of minced garlic, salt and pepper to taste, and enough olive oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
--Once the spinach has shrunken up and cooked through, add in at least half the jar of sun-dried tomatoes. Saute the tomatoes and spinach a little bit longer until they're sizzling.
-After the tomatoes and spinach are cooking, throw in the chopped rotisserie chicken. Mix all these ingredients really, really well and let them heat up nicely.
-Once you have mixed all these ingredients, add in the spaghetti style noodles that you have already cooked. These noodles tend to stick together so make sure that you stir it so that they come apart and everything is combined. After adding the pasta, pour in as much sauce as you like (I'm not a huge fan of too much sauce so I only add about 1/2 to 1 cup)
-Mix everything until it's one big, delicious pot of pasta!
ENJOY!

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream....Fashion, that is.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, friends! I have been absolutely SWAMPED with work. Oh my word. This year (like I've said many times) is SO busy I'm about to scream! Can't our teachers just cut us a little slack?? While my work load is getting heavier, the days are getting warmer and the spring trends are finally popping up around ECU! One trend that I discussed in my most recent East Carolinian column is...
  PASTELS(aka ice cream colors)
Yep, pastels are VERY in this season, and I’m not just talking about your average robins egg blue. Muted tones of any color you can imagine are on trend! Sorbet orange, mint green, chalk pink and countless others are stocking the shelves and I am ALL about it. I mean, who doesn’t love a crisp color palette for spring? I know I do! Pair some soft and subtle pallid yellow pants with a billowy coral top and you’ll be looking trendy and tranquil for the warm months ahead. So today I leave you with some spring inspiration that will have your mind running with idea upon idea of ways to mix pastels into your ever-growing wardrobe…

Tired and ready for a break...SPRING break that is!

Good grief
...this semester is making me more and more tired with every day. I know everyone said that junior year was hard but SHEESH. I am just drained. Thank the LORD that next weekend is spring break. Hallelujah! Although it's not "spring" weather, I am still thankful. With the climax of my classes ahead of me and the anxiety of finding an internship eating at my everyday, I couldn't be more in need of some time off. My friends and I are going to the mountains for a couple days to relax and unwind. What are your spring break plans?? I wish I was going to the beach, but the amount of money my family would be spending to pay for me to go to the Bahamas or somewhere tropical that would actually be warm would be worth so much more if put towards living expenses for a big city internship or something of that sort. But if you're going, I'm extremely jealous.
OR
In other news, my first post for INKED & SEWN went up this week! Jessica, the author of this splendid blog, is a fellow CollegeFashionista style guru and she asked a couple students from our internship if they wanted to guest blog with her and of course I gladly accepted! My first post was very short and sweet, but also very fun! I love giving people the idea to dress like a fashion icon on a college student budget. Check out my first INKED & SEWN post...
And speaking of CollegeFashionista, I had a great post go up this week. My lovely friend Allison who is always my go to girl when it comes to photography or anything related to that, graciously posed for my latest CF post and I thought it was perfect! Her outfit was adorable and I couldn't be more thankful for such an awesome friend who has such a sweet personality and is always willing to help me out. Check out her Tumblr HERE and read what I wrote about her fierce floppy hat right HERE...
And here is a little random idea of what I've been up to lately...
How is YOUR last week before break going??
